Qualcomm and Microsoft have an exclusive agreement for Windows on ARM

If you want to install Windows 10 or Windows 11 on an ARM processor, you must use a Qualcomm branded ARM processor to install it smoothly.

According to xda-developers reports, Qualcomm reached an exclusive agreement with Microsoft earlier that devices that do not use Qualcomm’s Snapdragon series processors will not be able to install Windows 10 from OEMs.

Recently, MediaTek’s announcement to enter the desktop market has attracted a lot of attention from users. MediaTek will launch ARM processors and related desktop devices for desktop platforms.

Before the end of Qualcomm’s exclusive period, MediaTek can only continue to research and develop and cannot cooperate with manufacturers to launch corresponding devices. The good news is that the exclusive period of Qualcomm’s equipment is about to end.

This exclusive agreement can be revealed because the agreement is about to expire. xda-developers said that MediaTek can also reach cooperate with Microsoft after the agreement expires in 2023.

In addition to MediaTek, Samsung also plans to launch Orion series processors suitable for desktop platforms. At that time, ARM-based desktop devices will increase significantly.
