Players discover clues to CSGO Source 2’s engine in the NVIDIA driver file

For CSGO players and their community, the topics of the Source 2 engine and the new operation are always a popular subject. Particularly in regards to the Source 2 update, as the engine serves as the foundation for a game, updating the engine could result in significant changes to a game that has already been around for a decade.

In fact, there were already rumors that CSGO would switch to the new engine after Dota 2 migrated to the Source 2 engine in 2015, and there were also related pieces of information regarding Source 2 at the 2017 CSGO national conference. However, CSGO still remains a DX9 game based on the Source engine.

Recently, we received some good news from well-known Valve data miners, Gabe Follower and Aquarius. They discovered information related to the CSGO Source 2 update in the files updated by NVIDIA GeForce Experience, such as “csgos2.exe” and “source2.” Although Gabe Follower had already found traces of CSGO in updates from other Valve games, it’s possible that finding relevant information in non-Valve files is a first, especially since this was discovered in the NVIDIA driver!

According to Aquarius, he believes that NVIDIA has obtained relevant information on the CSGO Source 2 update. This also proves that Source 2 is indeed in development and progressing smoothly, as NVIDIA would not have access to the relevant information if the game was not yet complete and specifically optimizing and selecting options for the game in GeForce Experience.

Undoubtedly, this is an exciting news for all CSGO players. However, considering Valve’s two famous phrases, “Valve Time” and “Vacation Simulator,” we might still have to wait for a while. Nonetheless, having something to look forward to is better than nothing, right?
