OPSWAT: Symantec, ESET, and McAfee is the first choice for most Windows users
A new study by Internet security company OPSWAT shows that today, anti-virus products developed by Symantec, ESET and McAfee have become the first choice for most Windows users. OPSWAT data shows that Symantec ranks first in the Windows anti-malware market with a market share of 13.56%, with Symantec Endpoint Protection accounting for 10.75%.
ESET ranked second with 12.84%, of which ESET Endpoint Antivirus and ESET Endpoint Security market share were 4.53% and 3.7% respectively. McAfee, which ranks third, has a 12.21% share, thanks to McAfee Endpoint Security, which currently accounts for 9.61% of devices with McAfee software installed. Bitdefender, Kaspersky, and Avast share ranked fourth to sixth, at 10.77%, 7.66%, and 6.98% respectively.
Windows Defender is not included in the market segment chart given by OPSWAT because OPSWAT believes that its products do not accurately represent the user’s choice because they are pre-installed on many Windows systems and cannot be deleted. On the other hand, although Windows Defender is not in the OPSWAT study, recent anti-virus testing has shown that Microsoft security products are at least as effective as third-party alternatives.
