Nvidia strictly limits the RTX 3080 Ti mining performance hash rate at 58 MH/S

Most of the specifications of the consumer-grade NVIDIA RTX 3080 Ti graphics card have been exposed. This new graphics card with performance second only to the RTX 3090 will be available soon.

For Ethereum miners, if they want to snap up this graphics card, they may have to think carefully, Nvidia has strictly limited the mining performance of the graphics card to prevent miners from buying it.

However, this is absolutely good news for consumers and gamers. Although the price is higher, limiting the mining performance can significantly reduce the price increase.

This allows more consumers and gamers to buy this graphics card at a normal price instead of spending a higher price to buy old stock graphics cards.

Some netizens posted on Twitter (spotted by Videocardz) to provide mining screenshots of NVIDIA RTX 3080 Ti. From the screenshots, it seems that the Chinese miners who got the card in advance for testing.

The screenshot shows that the mining power of the graphics card is 58.04MH/S. In terms of configuration, the graphics card has 10240 CUDA cores and 12GBGDDR6X memory.

As a comparison, the NVIDIA RTX 3090 has 10496 CUDA cores and 24GB GDDR6X memory. This graphics card has a mining power of 120MH/S.

It can be seen from this that if it is not restricted by Nvidia, the computing power of RTX 3080 Ti should be around 100~110MH/S and now only 58MH/S.

This means that Nvidia’s approach to the graphics card is the same as before, which is to directly cut 50% of the mining performance to prevent Ethereum miners from snapping up such graphics cards at high prices.

If there are no restrictions, RTX 3090 has a computing power of 120MH/S, RTX3080 has a computing power of 98MH/S, and RTX3070/3060Ti has a computing power of around 60MH/S.

Therefore, the computing power of RTX3080Ti after being restricted by NVIDIA is equivalent to that of RTX3070/3060Ti, but the price of 3080TI maybe $999 or even higher.

For miners, buying RTX3080Ti at a high price is not as good as buying RTX3070/3060Ti directly.
