Noctua will provide LGA 1700 upgrade kit for free
Noctua announced that it will provide a free upgrade kit for Intel’s upcoming LGA 1700 platform so customers can continue to use the CPU cooler on Intel’s 12th generation Core series processors (Alder Lake-S). At present, most Noctua CPU coolers will soon be equipped with mounting fasteners for LGA 1700 sockets, the popular NH-L9i ultra-thin radiator will additionally use custom LGA 1700 fasteners.
Roland Mossig, CEO of Noctua, said that since AMD launched the AM2 socket in 2006, Noctua has been providing customers with free upgrade kits. On Intel’s upcoming LGA 1700 platform, Noctua continues this tradition. Since customers can upgrade most of Noctua CPU coolers for free, even the CPU coolers more than ten years ago may be used on the latest processors. Users do not need to repurchase the CPU cooler due to upgrades, which helps to reduce waste, save resources, and make a positive contribution to the sustainable development of the PC industry.
