Noctua introduces offset mounting bars

Ever since AMD adopted the CCD + IOD design for their CPUs, heat dissipation has emerged as a quandary. According to a report by Tom’s Hardware, Noctua has specifically launched several bar kits to address this issue, their unique design potentially reducing the temperature of the Ryzen 7000 series processors by up to 3 degrees Celsius.

The bars are divided into four models: NM-AMB12, NM-AMB13, NM-AMB14, and NH-AMB15, each compatible with different types of coolers.

On Noctua’s official website, they elucidate the design principle of these bars: With the Ryzen 7000 series processors, the heat-intensive CCD is located on the southern side of the processor. Consequently, the bar shifts the cooler’s installation position about 7mm down from the centerline of the AM5 socket. This adjustment ensures a more secure contact between the base of the cooler and the CCD area, intensifying the pressure applied and naturally enhancing the heat dissipation capability.

Although the heat dissipation performance can be influenced by factors such as thermal paste, Noctua states that these bars can help high-end AM5 processors (those with two CCDs) to reduce the temperature by 1-3 degrees Celsius. Furthermore, Noctua’s CEO, Roland Mossig, expressed that ever since AMD introduced the CCD + IOD design, they have been testing the impact of these bars on the processors. On the AM4, the cooling range was only 0.5-1 degree Celsius, a somewhat negligible effect. However, on the AM5, these bars evidently delivered superior performance. Hence, Noctua believes these bars will offer Ryzen 7000 users a noteworthy performance boost.

As for pricing, these bars are priced at 3.90 euros on Noctua’s official website and 4.90 euros on Amazon. Starting from the fourth quarter of this year, these bars will be included with Noctua’s coolers.
