Myst becomes the first Xbox platform game to support AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution

After AMD announced FidelityFX Super Resolution (FSR) technology, Microsoft expressed its excitement about using FidelityFX Super Resolution on the Xbox platform to improve frame rate and performance at high resolutions. Less than a month later, Microsoft announced the integration of FidelityFX Super Resolution into the Xbox Game Development Kit (GDK), supporting Windows, Xbox Series S/X, Xbox One(X).

Compared to Microsoft, Sony seems to move faster, although it has never announced that FidelityFX Super Resolution will be included in the game development kit, however, after the update of the multiplayer shooting game “Arcadegeddon” in mid-July, its PlayStation 5 version already supports FidelityFX Super Resolution. However, the Xbox platform did not make players wait too long. Today, Microsoft officially announced that the game “Myst” will be available on Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Windows 10 PC, and Xbox Game Pass on August 26. This is the first Xbox platform game that supports FidelityFX Super Resolution.

Microsoft said that thanks to FidelityFX Super Resolution, the game “Myst” has achieved 4K@60FPS on Xbox Series X consoles at the highest image settings, and 1440P@60FPS on Xbox Series S consoles. “There are some minor differences to how the game looks at native 4K resolution without screen percentage adjustments, but overall, FSR provides a nearly 75% increase in performance on Xbox Series X|S on a 4K display, without sacrificing much visual fidelity at all.”

I believe that more and more games will support FidelityFX Super Resolution in the future. For the host, due to its limited performance and long service life, it may rely more on FidelityFX Super Resolution to improve performance
