MSI will re-enable the HydroGen series, Using GeForce RTX 3090

In the past, MSI will launch top-of-the-line graphics cards with HydroGen all-copper water cooling design, large-area water block made of all-copper casting. The heat dissipation area covers components such as GPU and video memory. Compared with the general water cooling design that only covers the GPU, it solves the temperature problem of high-end graphics cards more effectively.

MSI RTX 30 SUPRIM 35th

The last time I saw HydroGen series products was many years ago. It should be ten years ago when the N580GTX HydroGen graphics card was launched, which is a product of the Fermi architecture. The 580GTX HydroGen graphics card was very popular with high-end enthusiasts at the time, and it had a very good overclocking performance. This time the HydroGen series chooses GeForce RTX 3090, which is believed to be MSI’s highest-end graphics card design.

According to the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) document, MSI plans to update the original GeForce RTX 30 series product line with Nvidia’s new GeForce RTX 30 series LHR version. Unlike most brands, MSI intends to add LHR to the product name, so that consumers can more directly and quickly distinguish whether the GPU used belongs to the LHR version.

More interesting is the appearance of GeForce RTX 3090 HYDROGEN 24G, which means that the long-lost HydroGen series will make a comeback. Due to the long time interval, younger players don’t even know about the existence of N580GTX HydroGen graphics cards. After the HydroGen series, MSI cooperated with EK in Slovenia to design a new series called Sea Hawk EK X, but the cooperation between the two parties seems to have ended in the era of Ampere architecture. On the GeForce RTX 30 series, MSI and Asetek cooperated to launch the Sea Hawk X series of AIO cooling solutions. The appearance of the HydroGen series this time means that MSI is likely to develop the HydroGen series in parallel with the Sea Hawk X series, rather than a substitute.
