Motorola unveils the Rizr concept phone with a rollable display

While Samsung is leading the foldable technology race in the smartphone market, with its Galaxy Z Fold and Galaxy Z Flip series experiencing increasing sales year after year, every once in a while, unusual foldable concept phones appear. The latest one is from Motorola.

According to Wccftech, Motorola showcased a concept phone named Rizr at the recent MWC 2023 event. It uses a POLED display, with a vertical rollable design that offers many advantages to solve the problem between small screens and large screens. In a compact state, Rizr’s screen is 5 inches with a 15:9 aspect ratio, while the unfolded screen size adjusts to 6.5 inches with a 22:9 aspect ratio, and the entire Android system interface will also extend accordingly.

From the name, Rizr is easily associated with Razr, and its more compact design is an ideal choice for users who prefer better portability. The expanded screen is more suitable for gaming and entertainment. What’s interesting about Rizr is the secondary screen on the back, which is part of its rollable display and can display weather, time, notifications, and small tools when not expanded. Rizr’s foldable mechanism works together with a small electric system to make the display screen scroll. Rizr comes with a 3000mAh battery, which is not very large, so better battery management is needed for longer battery life.
