Microsoft to build new cloud data center in Qatar
Microsoft recently announced that it will establish a new cloud data center in Qatar. This data center is also the result of cooperation between Microsoft and the Qatar government. According to Microsoft, the new data center is expected to be operational by 2021. This is also Microsoft’s third large data center in the Middle East or the Gulf region. At present, Microsoft’s data centers in the Gulf region are mainly produced in the United Arab Emirates data center and the United Arab Emirates North District data center.
The Qatar Ministry of Transport and Communications stated that working with Microsoft is part of an effort to accelerate the Qatari government’s efforts to accelerate digital transformation and plan a knowledge-based economy. The new cloud data center established by Microsoft in Qatar will bring more reliable and scalable cloud services to Qatar, and provide resident capabilities for its user data.
Microsoft will use its deep expertise to protect customer data in order to meet a wide range of security and privacy requirements and help customers enhance their compliance certification capabilities. The new data center will also provide public and private companies with more reliable cloud services, including Office 365, Dynamics 365, and Power Platform.
