Microsoft pushes new icon to Notepad app in Windows 10
Microsoft is rolling out new icons for Windows 10 applications, and the Notepad app on the Microsoft Store is also receiving a redesigned icon. Notepad is a simple text editor for Microsoft Windows and a basic text-editing program which enables computer users to create documents. It was first released as a mouse-based MS-DOS program in 1983 and has been included in all versions of Microsoft Windows since Windows 1.0 in 1985.
Although the Notepad app is pre-installed in Windows, Microsoft decided a few years ago to properly separate system and software services for faster feature upgrades and bug fixes.
So starting with Windows 10 build 18963, released in 2019, the Notepad app has also appeared in the Microsoft Store.
