Microsoft no longer pre-installed the 3D viewer and Paint 3D on Windows 10
The 3D viewer and the 3D version of Paint are applications that Microsoft has previously launched in response to the tide of 3D development. These applications can be used to create or view 3D stereoscopic content.
With the development of AR technology, 3D seems to have become a technology of the past, and now 3D content and mixed reality content are not the focus of Microsoft and therefore have to be abandoned.
Earlier, Microsoft announced that it would remove the 3D folder displayed in the Windows 10 Explorer shortcut, and now the 3D viewer and the 3D version of Paint will also be removed.
Microsoft removed the 3D viewer and Paint 3D version in the Windows 10 Dev Build 21322 version launched today, and Microsoft no longer pre-installs it by default.
If the user has currently installed or previously installed the system pre-installed these two applications, the system will still retain these applications after upgrading to the new beta version and will not be deleted.
If the user does a fresh Windows 10 installation, the system will no longer pre-install the above-mentioned applications, but the user can also actively install them from Microsoft Store.
These applications are currently still supported by Microsoft, and users can install and continue to use them through the Microsoft Store. At present, it is just that Microsoft no longer pre-installs it.
Microsoft did not give a detailed explanation on this matter and therefore does not know the reason for the removal, but according to our guess, it is nothing more than the trend that the usage rate is too low before it will be removed.
Microsoft writes:
3D Viewer and Paint 3D will no longer be preinstalled on clean installs of the latest Insider Preview builds. Both apps will still be available in the Store and will stay on your device after an OS update. So, if you upgraded your PC like normal, you shouldn’t see these apps changed in your app list.
