Microsoft launches Windows 11 IoT Enterprise Edition with new features
After launching Windows 11 system, Microsoft is currently updating other versions. The new branch version this time is Windows 11 IoT Enterprise Edition.
This version has some new features of Windows 11 such as a Linux subsystem with a GUI interface, support for Wi-Fi 6E, support for USB 4.0, and a new interface.
It should be emphasized that this version is not an LTSC version, so the support period is only 36 months. Microsoft has not disclosed when Windows 11 IoT Enterprise LTSC will be released.
Earlier, Microsoft has launched the Windows Server IoT 2022 version for the server, but now it is launching the Windows 11 IoT Enterprise Edition.
Microsoft said that the launch of this version is the company’s continued commitment to provide innovation and new features to the Internet of Things market and to jointly innovate with the Internet of Things device manufacturers.
As a commitment to the long-term support plan for the IoT market, the upcoming Windows 10 IoT Enterprise LTSC will have a 10-year support cycle.
The Windows 11 IoT Enterprise launched this time mainly provides new features, so it is not a long-term service version. Its version cycle is 36 months or 3 years.
The reason for the new version is that Microsoft hopes to build innovative devices for IoT device manufacturers based on the Windows for IoT ecosystem with new functions and features.
