Microsoft is testing “Cross-device copy and paste” feature

Windows 10 already supports the cross-device clipboard synchronization function, which can use the Microsoft account to synchronize the clipboard on the devices logged in with the same account.

But Microsoft does not currently provide cross-platform synchronization between Windows 10 and mobile devices. Although this feature may not be used frequently, it is sometimes more convenient.

Therefore, Microsoft is now updating the input method it acquired, using the input method of the mobile device to connect the clipboard with Windows 10 to achieve cross-platform synchronization.

Microsoft acquired the well-known input method SwiftKey many years ago, and the number of installations of this input method in the Play Store alone has reached 500,000,000 times.

In 2018, Microsoft considered using this input method to complete the clipboard cross-device synchronization, but later Microsoft temporarily suspended the project for unknown reasons.

Recently, Microsoft should restart the project and take the lead in bringing cross-platform clipboard synchronization on the Android platform. Users can experience this feature by upgrading the new version of SwiftKey.

It should be noted that the clipboard history function needs to be enabled on the Windows 10 platform. After the clipboard is synchronized, users can use Win+V to view the synchronized content.

Microsoft has not publicly stated that the feature should be in a step-by-step test, so whether and when iOS devices will support it is still unknown for the time being.
