Microsoft is developing the Windows 11 SE version with functional limitations for Cloud PC

After the Windows 11 iso image file was leaked, many netizens installed and discovered the features. Although most of the features are the same as Windows 10, there are also differences.

For example, some users found that this image file also contains a version named Windows 11 SE. As for the specific purpose of this version, no one knew before.

However, when the media contacted Microsoft for comment on this version, they did not get a reply. The media speculated that this version is an S-mode SKU, which is a limited version previously developed.

The so-called S mode and limited edition refer to the Windows 10 S edition, this edition cannot use Windows Store, cannot install UWP applications, and cannot use offline accounts.

The latest Windows 11 SE version is the previous S version, but Microsoft will no longer provide the S version to OEM manufacturers to pre-install it on a physical machine.

On the contrary, the current SE version will be used as a system for Windows Cloud PC. Cloud PC is a cloud computer developed by Microsoft based on its own cloud data center.

This type of cloud computer currently provides two different hardware specifications. After purchase, users can use the Microsoft Remote Desktop application to connect and run supported programs.

After testing, netizens found that although the Windows 11 SE version has functional limitations, it has little effect. For example, traditional desktop software can be installed normally and run well.

However, the offline account creation function of the OOBE interface has been cut off, so users can only use online accounts, and this version of the Microsoft Store has also been disabled by Microsoft.
