Microsoft fixes dark external monitor bug in Windows 10 v2004
Since the release of Windows 10 v2004, the external display flickering and blacking problems have existed. It is only now that Microsoft has decided to solve this problem via KB4577063.
This problem mainly affects laptops or tablet computers with built-in displays. Devices such as desktop computers do not experience display flickering.
Another problem is that the graphics controller, that is, the graphics card, will display a yellow exclamation mark in some cases. Microsoft will also release an update next week to fix it.
Microsoft said
“If you have a device running Windows 10 version 2004 with a built-in screen (such as a laptop or tablet) and a connected external display set to Duplicate your primary screen, you might see both monitors flicker and the external monitor go black if you try to draw using an Office app (such as Word).”
“This can also happen with some other apps capable of drawing, such as Whiteboard. If you check in Device Manager, your graphics controller will have a warning icon next to it (a yellow triangle with an exclamation mark in it).”
