Microsoft finally released a fix to solve taskbar & gaming performance issues
As early as April, the cumulative update released by Microsoft was found to cause the performance of Windows 10 games to decline, that is, there is a noticeable freeze when playing games.
Specifically, after installing the KB5000842 and KB5001330 updates, the frame rate of the game will drop significantly, and games such as Call of Duty are affected by this problem.
After users complained, Nvidia officially took the lead in investigating and confirmed that the problem is not a problem with the graphics card driver, so Nvidia cannot rely on it to solve the problem.
Later, after receiving user feedback, Microsoft officially confirmed the problem but it could not be resolved. For this reason, Microsoft directly rolled back the update and recommended that users who have installed it immediately uninstall the update.
After investigation, Microsoft found that if the game played by the user is a full-screen game, and the user connects to multiple monitors, there will be obvious lag problems.
That is to say, the probability of users who use a single monitor encountering this problem is relatively low. It is estimated that this is the reason that Microsoft has delayed the repair until now.
According to Microsoft’s official support announcement, the KB5003690 Preview is an update to address the issue of game performance degradation.
This fix is currently only available to Insider users, so stable users have not yet received the push, and will be released in the next stable update after Microsoft’s testing is completed.
The release date of the next stable version update is July 13, 2021, when the fix will be merged into the monthly cumulative update and pushed to users.
