Microsoft announces OneDrive version history feature for Windows 10/MacOS
OneDrive, Microsoft cloud storage service, has previously provided a historical version function, that is, different edited versions are retained so that users can restore them when needed.
However, this function previously only supported the use of the web version, especially for commonly used documents, you may have to visit the web version every time to view the historical version.
The good news is that this feature is finally available to the client version. Now both Windows 10 and macOS versions of OneDrive have integrated historical version features.
Version history is a feature introduced by Microsoft for Microsoft 365 users. This feature can automatically retain all version records of a file within 30 days.
This function can be used when the user needs to view or roll back the old version. For example, after checking that the old version is what he needs, he can directly overwrite the new version with the old version.
Of course, this function also has the characteristics of fighting against ransomware, because the version of the ransomware after encrypting the file will be different, and the user can directly restore to the old version.
The principle behind it is mainly to rely on Microsoft’s cloud computing service to save multiple versions of user files, allowing users to perform recovery operations as needed within a certain period of time.
Microsoft has already pushed the new version of OneDrive to Windows 10 and macOS, and most users should have been automatically updated with the latest version by Microsoft.
After updating, right-click any file to see the version history option. After clicking this option, you can see all the versions reserved by Microsoft within 30 days.
Click any historical version to view it online or overwrite it to the file, so that users can quickly restore the old version file when the user shakes the operation error.
