Microsoft announced to obtain a license from the US Department of Commerce to continue to license software and operating systems to Huawei
Previously, due to the ban, Microsoft and Google and other US technology giants have broken cooperation with Huawei. According to the ban, US companies are not allowed to cooperate with Huawei. Over time, the United States has had to continue to extend the exemption license to Huawei because the US rural telecommunications company is highly dependent on Huawei to be unable to disconnect its cooperation. At the same time, for products that do not involve the so-called security issues in the United States, the US Department of Commerce allows US companies to apply for additional licenses to resume cooperation with Huawei.
Yesterday night, an official spokesperson for Microsoft said that the software export license applied by the company to the US Department of Commerce has been approved to resume cooperation with Huawei. Microsoft said that the approval is mainly for popular software for individuals and business users, which is software that Microsoft sells for almost all countries and regions.
Although Microsoft did not disclose what this popular software specifically included, it is clear that such products as operating system products and office software products are definitely included. For example, Windows 10 operating system, Windows Server series server system, Microsoft Office and other types of business domain software. This means that Huawei’s upcoming notebooks and other products can continue to pre-install Windows 10 systems, of course, whether or not to pre-install depends on Huawei.
