Microsoft announced that it would stop to support Office for Mac 2011
Microsoft today announced that it will stop providing technical support for Office for Mac 2011. Office for Mac 2011 has been released for nearly seven years now. Starting from October 10, 2017, 2011, Word and Excel will not receive feature updates or security updates. Any form of support from Microsoft, whether paid or free technical support, will be permanently terminated.
Microsoft Lync for Mac 2011 will still be able to get support from Microsoft, extended to October 9, 2018. Because the technical support for Office for Mac 2011 has been more than the usual 5 years, so Microsoft did not provide any additional support.
Earlier this year, Microsoft did not even test Word, Excel, Outlook, and Lync in the macOS High Sierra system. However, some users found that Office for Mac 2011 can basically run in the macOS High Sierra system. Microsoft recommends that users upgrade to the Office 2416 for Mac compatible with High Sierra.
