Microsoft adjusts the actual size of thumbnails previews of OneDrive to reduce server pressure

Affected by the coronavirus epidemic, users in many countries can only work from home, which makes the use of cloud services provided by Microsoft soar and also affects the stability of these services.

Microsoft has previously adjusted the service strategy of multiple products to reduce the pressure on the server, and now Microsoft has begun to restrict services to OneDrive users.

When users open some folders that contain many pictures, OneDrive needs to connect to the server to request thumbnails, which may cause pressure on the server.

The service limitation added by Microsoft is that when the image preview set by the user in the file explorer is a large size, the image preview will not be displayed by default.

If you’ve enabled large thumbnail previews of files will see a generic icon for image files, rather than an actual preview of the image, so as to prevent large numbers of images from being loaded when File Explorer (or the macOS Finder) is open.

If users have a large number of scans or design drawings, this service restriction will make it difficult for users to find certain pictures.
