Microsoft acquires Nuance Communications for $56 per share
Recently, Microsoft announced that it would acquire the well-known player in the field of natural language recognition, Nuance Communications at a price of $56 per share. Based on this calculation, the value of the transaction is approximately $16 billion.
It is understood that Nuance is an American multinational computer software technology corporation, headquartered in Burlington, Massachusetts, on the outskirts of Boston, that provides speech recognition, and artificial intelligence. Nuance Communications’ voice recognition technology is mainly used in sales and medical consultation, voice mail, and customer service phone application scenarios.
Public data shows that Nuance Communications has a net profit of 7 million U.S. dollars in the fourth quarter of 2020, a revenue of approximately 346 million U.S. dollars, and 7,100 employees as of September. According to people familiar with the matter, the two sides began contacting in December last year. Microsoft is willing to acquire Nuance at a price of $56 per share. According to this calculation, the latter’s equity value can reach 16 billion US dollars.
