MediaTek announced its fiscal 2021 and fourth quarter financial results

Recently, MediaTek announced its consolidated results for the fourth quarter and full year of 2021, which are based on TIFRS. With its outstanding performance in the 5G market and diversified businesses, MediaTek delivered a satisfactory answer in 2021. In a previous report released by IC Insights, among the top semiconductor companies, MediaTek’s revenue growth in 2021 is second only to AMD and leaps into the top ten.

MediaTek’s financial report shows that in the fourth quarter of 2021, its revenue was NT$128.654 billion, a decrease of 1.8% month-on-month and a year-on-year increase of 33.5%; profit was NT$63.83 billion, an increase of 4.3% month-on-month, and a year-on-year increase of 48.9%; the consolidated gross profit margin for the quarter was 49.6%, an increase of 2.9 percentage points from the previous quarter and a year-on-year increase of 5.1 percentage points. MediaTek said that the slight quarter-on-quarter decline in the fourth quarter of 2021 was mainly due to changes in the smartphone mix, while the year-on-year growth was due to product specification upgrades and increased market demand.

MediaTek’s annual revenue in 2021 was NT$493.415 billion, a year-on-year increase of 53.2% and a record high for two consecutive years; profit was NT$231.605 billion, a year-on-year increase of 63.6%; the comprehensive gross profit margin for the year was 46.9%, an increase of 3 percentage points year-on-year; earnings per share were NT$70.56, which also hit a record high. MediaTek expects its revenue to continue growing at a CAGR of 15% through 2024.

At present, MediaTek’s product line has covered many fields such as smartphones, mobile computing devices, smart TVs, IoT products, and wireless connection devices. At the end of last year, MediaTek announced the launch of a new generation of a flagship product, the Dimensity 9000, which is the first SoC to use the ARMv9 architecture and the first SoC to support 7500 MT/s LPDDR5X memory. Benchmark tests show that among the high-end SoCs of the new generation Android platform, the Dimensity 9000 has the closest performance to the A15 Bionic.
