Linux Mint gets new theme colors and local network sharing tools
Clement Lefebvre, the head of Linux Mint, published the project’s monthly news. There are two big events about Linux Mint this month. They are updating the theme color of the default Mint-Y theme, and a new local network file sharing tool.
The first is a set of improved theme palettes. The new theme colors pay more attention to hue, brightness, and saturation to make colors more vivid without affecting readability and comfort.
A Linux Mint internal developer has used the new pink theme. Here is a comparison of the old and new pink provided by him:
It can be seen that the new theme color is brighter, more saturated, and purer, and pink is more pink, instead of having a lilac tone as before, it is more pleasing to the senses. Next, the Linux Mint team intends to apply this method to all other colors and adjust the folder icons accordingly.
Another important upcoming update is that the team is developing a new local network file sharing tool, temporarily called Warpinator. Ten years ago, Linux Mint 6 introduced Giver, which can easily share files on the local network, but it was deleted after the project ended its support. Since then, Linux Mint has been missing this feature. Now, local network sharing is finally back.
Linux Mint’s next release is Linux Mint 20 and is expected to be released in May or June.
