LG is ready to
add a new product to its 4K laser projector lineup, the HU915QE. This ultra-short-throw projector laser projector will be launched in some regions in the first half of 2022, that is, in the next month or so.
The new HU915QE projector launched this time is currently the brightest in the entire series of similar products. It can project a 120-inch image on a wall-mounted screen at a distance of 7.2 inches with 3700 ANSI lumens or project a 90-inch image on a wall-mounted screen at a distance of 2.2 inches. Ultra-high brightness is also a major selling point of the HU915QE, which may also make it a new option besides the giant 4K OLED and LCD projectors.
The industrial channel laser engine used on the HU915QE allocates a separate laser for each primary color of RGB, ensuring a wide color gamut coverage when displaying high dynamic range content. At the same time, this also eliminates the need for the DLP color wheel, which can cause rainbow-like display anomalies in projectors such as the HU915QE. Just like other laser projectors of the same type, LG’s HU915QE has a lamp life of 20,000 hours, which is estimated to be around 12 to 13 years under normal use.
Another advantage of the HU915QE is that it has the HDR dynamic tone mapping function. This feature analyzes a video frame by frame to optimize shadow and highlight detail in high-dynamic HDR content. In addition, the HU915QE can also automatically adjust the overall brightness of the screen based on the ambient brightness of the indoor space by using the built-in brightness optimizer function.
LG said that the HU915QE will be launched in North America, Europe, and the Middle East in the first half of 2022, and other regions will come later. Although the official price of the new laser projector has not been announced, some online retailers in the United States have set its pre-order price at $5,996.
