Leak: Cloud Reinstall feature on Windows 10
Recently, the Cloud Reinstall feature newly provided by the Windows 10 Insider Preview has caused a lot of attention. This function is actually a quick recovery when the system is faulty. Strictly speaking, it is not a recovery but a reinstallation of the system to enable the device to operate normally, eliminating the cumbersome steps of the user making a USB flash drive to start the modification of the startup item.
According to the @thebookisclosed Twitter user, the Cloud Reinstall feature is actually started in the Windows 10 Version 1607 anniversary update (this feature is built 14908, compiled August 16th, 2016). But until now it was the Windows 10 20H1 beta, this feature was officially released.
Looks like the reason why this downloads such an old ESD is because the feature itself is very old. Maybe something that was shelved a long time ago and only now picked up? Currently looking for which build actually introduced this

After the image file is downloaded, the system automatically performs the overwrite installation function to solve the system’s faults. Of course, the software installed by the user will disappear. Users should not try this feature for the time being, if they have not yet confirmed whether to keep the file, so as to avoid personal file loss affecting normal work.
The blue screen of the Windows 10 system should be a headache for many users. However, sometimes the system fails to boot and prompts the user to insert the CD or backup image for repair. If there is no backup, it can only be reinstalled. In this case, the user already has a ready-made boot disk or another computer can make a boot disk. If there is only one computer, then there is no way to make a USB flash drive. So in essence, the “Recover from the cloud” function is an alternative method in the event of a serious failure, at least you can take some time to get the computer back to use.
