Kioxia has announced its intent to unveil a novel consumer-grade solid-state drive, the “EXCERIA PLUS G3 Series,” slated for release in the third quarter of 2023. These pioneering devices, which adhere to the PCIe 4.0 standard and offer a maximum capacity of 2TB, are intended for a mainstream audience employing high-performance gaming PCs, desktops, and laptops, assuring them of the requisite speed and price point.

This product line is still in its developmental phase, with Kioxia planning to showcase the relevant products at the upcoming Computex 2023, scheduled to be held from May 30th to June 2nd, 2023, at the Nangang Exhibition Hall in Taipei, Taiwan.

The EXCERIA PLUS G3 series solid-state drive is equipped with Kioxia’s BiCS FLASH 3D TLC NAND (Triple-Level Cell), utilizing a PCIe 4.0 x4 interface and supporting the NVMe 1.4 standard. It employs a single-sided M.2 2280 form factor, suitable for both desktops and mobile systems and offers a maximum sequential read speed of 5000 MB/s. Kioxia claims that, compared to the preceding EXCERIA PLUS G2 series (also known as the RD20 series) solid-state drives, the power efficiency at maximum sustained read speeds could see an enhancement of approximately 70%.

Moreover, the EXCERIA PLUS G3 series solid-state drive supports Kioxia’s SSD Utility management software, which aids users in SSD monitoring and maintenance. Kioxia has not provided additional specifications for the product, hinting that more information may become available upon product launch.

Though Kioxia hasn’t provided pricing details for the EXCERIA PLUS G3 series solid-state drives, based on the product’s description and the retail market price of the existing EXCERIA PLUS G2 series solid-state drives, it can be inferred that the pricing for these new products will be consumer-friendly.
