Kingston had taken the top spot on the 2022 channel-wide SSD shipment leaderboard
Kingston is a well-known storage brand among many gamers, and its memory products have always had a high market share. In fact, Kingston’s shipments in the SSD market are also very high, but they are rarely noticed or discussed by gamers.
Recently, Kingston announced that it had taken the top spot on the 2022 channel-wide SSD shipment leaderboard. Despite the global decline in demand for SSDs, Kingston claimed that the drop in average selling prices had diversified and made the end-market more elastic, which helped to drive healthy demand for high-quality SSD solutions.
According to TRENDFOCUS, a market analysis and research company, Kingston had a 24% market share in channel-wide SSD shipments, with a shipment volume of about 22 million, ranking first. Its market share grew to 28.4% in the third quarter of 2022, which was the turning point when market demand reversed. In fact, the entire SSD market demand decreased by 15% in 2022, with a very noticeable impact on personal computers, and the sales of laptops and desktops during the same period decreased by 13%, with almost the same magnitude of the decline.
Kingston stated that its outstanding performance achieved in a difficult market environment highlights its influence and position in the SSD market. Kingston believes that with excellent performance and outstanding experience, SSDs will be adopted by an increasing number of users worldwide. In the future, Kingston will launch powerful NVMe products and optimized traditional SATA solutions for laptops and desktops, further expanding its product line in order to sustainably increase its market share.
