KB5014668 fixes Wi-Fi hotspot problem in Windows 11

Previously, the routine cumulative update released by Microsoft led to the destruction of Windows 11’s hotspot feature, and even after the Wi-Fi hotspot was turned on, the entire system could not be connected to the Internet normally. For example, when accessing a device in a local area network, it will prompt a network connection error. Fortunately, Microsoft quickly confirmed this problem and said that it will be fixed in a later update, and so a new optional update with fixes has arrived. KB5014668 for Windows 11 version 21H2 fixes this problem, but installing the update is also not recommended unless users really need to use it.

KB5014668

Turning on hotspot sharing can help other devices connect to the Internet. This function was used normally before, but the update released by Microsoft directly broke this function. When the user turns on the hotspot, not only other devices cannot be connected normally, but also the entire system cannot be connected to the Internet, and even the local area network cannot be accessed normally. Similar to this problem, after the ICS service is turned on, the Microsoft Remote Desktop Service RDP cannot connect to port 3389 normally, resulting in the remote desktop is unavailable. After testing, netizens found that this was caused by the latest cumulative update, and after uninstalling the update, hotspot sharing and Microsoft Remote Desktop Services can be reused.

KB5014668 is Microsoft’s latest optional update with a testing nature, and the system will not automatically install this update unless the user actively clicks to check for updates. If you need to use the hotspot sharing function, you can install it. If there are no other problems, it is not recommended to install. By convention, these updates will bring other problems. Therefore, based on security considerations, these updates should not be installed in a hurry unless necessary. If you really need to, you can click this link to download and install them manually.
