KB4100347 patch is causing serious problems with Windows 10
Users report that recent Windows 10 security updates have caused severe problems with their PCs. In the KB4100347 patch for the Windows 10 April 2018 system update, Microsoft described: “Intel recently announced that they have completed their validations and started to release microcode for recent CPU platforms related to Spectre Variant 2 (CVE 2017-5715 [“Branch Target Injection”]). This update includes microcode updates from Intel for the following CPUs”
However, after installing the patch, many people reported that their PC had a boot failure. A netizen named @tmGrunty complained on Twitter:
So @MicrosoftHelps my Windows just automatically installed update KB4346084 and after the forced reboot my system is now permanently stuck in the loading screen with the windows logo.
I even had to re-install windows 10 completely but the update just installed itself again …— tmGrunty (@tmGrunty) August 22, 2018
HTNovo.net pointed out that the problem seems to be caused by Microsoft pushing Intel microcode updates to PCs using AMD processors. Another way of saying this is that the Intel processor models for this part of the user are not supported on the list at the time of patch design. If you are unfortunate, you can try to uninstall the relevant updates. The remedy is to click Start> Settings> Update and Security> Windows Update> View update history> Uninstall updates.
Of course, Windows 10 is still likely to introduce bugs again before Microsoft officially fixes it. Here we hope that this software giant can act quickly and not let down the expectations and trust of everyone again and again.
