Journaling app Day One is acquired by WordPress owner Automattic

The well-known journaling application Day One was acquired by the open-source CMS WordPress owner Automattic. In a press release, Day One founder and CEO Paul Mayne stated that “This is incredibly exciting news. For the past 10 years since I started Day One, I’ve worked to not only create the best digital journaling experience in the world, but one that will last. By joining Automattic, I’m now more confident than ever that the preservation and longevity of Day One is sure.”

Through this acquisition, Day One will receive the same technical, financial, and security support as WordPress.com, Tumblr, and other Automattic products. Mayne said that he will continue to take the helm of Day One, and the team members will remain the same. This also means that Day One, which users use to save ideas, photos, videos, recordings, etc., will not disappear.
Mayne also revealed that Day One will integrate with Tumblr and WordPress.com in the future while ensuring user privacy.

Day One is a diary and note-taking application. At present, the application itself is available for free download. To use synchronization and other functions requires a paid subscription.  This app has won the Apple Design Awards in the past ten years and has been highly praised by media such as The New York Times, Washington Post, Time, and Wired. The Day One app has been downloaded more than 15 million times in 225 countries and regions.
