Japan Display announces cooperation with HKC

Japan Display (JDI), a liquid crystal display manufacturer formed by the merger of the small and medium-sized display divisions of Sony, Toshiba, Hitachi, and Panasonic, and also one of Apple’s iPhone display screen suppliers, has announced a collaboration with Shenzhen-based display screen manufacturer HKC. The partnership aims to expedite the mass production of OLED display screens.

Founded in 2001, HKC initially focused on large-size display screen production and established manufacturing plants in Chongqing and Changsha, China. The company has gained market competitiveness through its high cost-performance ratio products and ample financial backing.

The collaboration will integrate JDI’s eLEAP display technology, which allows display screens to achieve twice the brightness and a threefold increase in lifespan, as well as high electron mobility oxide (HMO) backlight technology, thus enhancing the competitive specifications of the partnered display screens.

JDI’s choice to collaborate with HKC is evidently an effort to expand its presence in the Chinese market and simultaneously boost the adoption of its display screen products worldwide.

The two parties anticipate finalizing the collaboration agreement in June this year, and are currently in the process of negotiating the details of their partnership.
