Intel’s next-generation NUC 12 Enthusiast leaked
In Intel’s existing NUC system, in addition to the mainstream product, Bean Canyon, there are also Enthusiast and Extreme series for high-end gamers. Last week, the NUC 11 Extreme code-named Beast Canyon was officially released, and the 11th-generation NUC Enthusiast was launched earlier. Now Intel is also developing the next-generation NUC 12 Enthusiast, and there are reports that the NUC 12 Enthusiast will use the 12-generation Alder Lake architecture CPU, plus the next-generation Xe architecture DG2 independent GPU.
A Weibo user released a screenshot that seems to be Intel’s internal report PPT, there are the appearance of NUC 12 Enthusiast and the main hardware configuration. This generation seems to be called Serpent internally. Since it is the 12th-generation NUC, it is likely to use Intel’s 12th-generation Alder Lake architecture. This generation is said to use a mixed architecture of large and small cores, and NUC 12 Enthusiast will provide Core i7 and i5 SKUs, and i9 should be left to NUC 12 Extreme.
However, the more interesting information is that Intel may use a dedicated display with 16, 12, and 8GB GDDR6 memory on the new generation of mini-game consoles. This should be the DG2 independent GPU based on their next-generation Xe architecture, but the specific specifications of the number of EUs are not currently given. I only know that the HDMI 2.1 interface and two DP 2.0 interfaces can be provided on the NUC 12 Enthusiast.
However, this information is currently only Intel’s internal engineering machine proposal. This screenshot also shows that the product has not been sent to the FCC for certification, so this is not the final hardware. Intel Alder Lake architecture CPU is expected to debut later this year or early next year. The first release should still be used on laptops and desktop platforms, so this NUC 12 Enthusiast will not officially debut until at least next year.
