Intel will introduce XeSS at GDC 2022

AMD will showcase the latest research results of the imaging technology upgrade project at the upcoming GDC 2022, and the much-anticipated FidelityFX Super Resolution 2.0 will also be unveiled. Although the Alchemist (DG2) graphics card of the Intel Arc brand has not yet been released, Intel will also use this opportunity to introduce its own graphics technology solutions.
As part of the GDC 2022 schedule, Intel also has several keynote sessions. The content involves scheduling optimization of Alder Lake hybrid architecture in games, artificial intelligence-driven super sampling (XeSS), and Xe core-based hardware ray tracing technology. For example, in a session called “A Quick Guide to Intel’s Ray-Tracing Hardware”, Intel will introduce how its ray-tracing hardware architecture works, why it is designed with the future of path tracing in mind, as well as explain programming practices for ray tracing shaders. In the conference called “Intel Xe Super Sampling (XeSS)—an AI-based Upscaling for Real-Time Rendering”, Intel will introduce how to use XeSS and the software and hardware technology behind it.

Although Intel did not go into detail in the descriptions of the individual sessions, it is foreseeable that attendees should be quite interested in Intel’s topics and thus ask more questions. At this GDC conference, you can learn about the implementation method and general route of Intel’s graphics technology, which will help game developers to better optimize their work.
