Intel will conduct a accelerated webcast on July 26

Official Intel announced today that it will be webcast live on July 26 at 2 pm Pacific time. Its CEO Pat Gelsinger and technical department head Dr. Ann Kelleher will show up. The content involves process and packaging roadmaps. At that time, as part of Intel’s IDM 2.0 strategy announced in March this year, Pat Gelsinger and Ann Kelleher will explain in more depth and may provide details of Intel’s related plans in the next three to four years.

Intel’s IDM 2.0 strategy consists of three parts, namely, a global internal factory network for large-scale manufacturing, expanding the use of third-party foundry capacity, and building a world-class Intel foundry service (IFS). In order to accelerate the realization of the IDM 2.0 strategy, Intel will substantially expand its production capacity and plans to invest approximately US$20 billion to build two new wafer fabs in the Ocotillo Park in Arizona, USA. At the same time, led by Dr. Randhir Thakur, a senior expert in the semiconductor industry, a new independent business unit was established: Intel Foundry Services (IFS).

Recently, Intel is expanding its fab in Ireland, which is located in Leixlip to meet the production requirements of the future 7nm process node. Subsequently, Intel also invested $3.5 billion to upgrade its fab located in New Mexico. Next, it is possible to build a new fab in Europe at an abandoned air force base near Munich in Bavaria, Germany.
Intel has already confirmed that Meteor Lake of the 14th generation Core series and Granite Rapids for data centers will be manufactured using a 7nm process. Meteor Lake is Intel’s first 7nm process product for the consumer market, covering desktop and mobile platforms, and will be released in 2023. Previously, Intel also stated that its 7nm process research and development is progressing smoothly, and extreme ultraviolet lithography (EUV) technology has been added to the reconstruction and simplified process flow.
