Intel mobile platform Alder Lake processor classification leaked

As the first processor with large and small core architectures, Intel’s 12th-generation Core series will meet consumers in a few months. According to past data, Alder Lake can be configured with up to 8 “Golden Cove” performance (large) cores and 8 “Gracemont” efficiency (small) cores. At the same time, Intel will adjust the number of large cores and small cores and launch different models of products according to different combinations. Compared to desktop platforms, mobile platforms that are more sensitive to power consumption may be able to give full play to the role of the big.LITTLE hybrid architecture.

Recently, Twitter user @9550pro shared the product classification of Intel’s next-generation mobile processors, allowing us to understand Intel’s general product layout. According to the data picture, Intel will subdivide the mobile platform into six markets according to TDP, which are 5W tablet/handheld devices; 9W ultra-thin laptops; 15W mainstream tablet/laptop; 28W high-performance platform computer/laptop; 35W-45W enthusiast laptop; 45W-55W extreme performance laptop.

In the 5W part, as Intel discontinued the Lakefield series of processors, this market will be replaced by Alder Lake-M5, using 1 large core and 4 small cores, the GPU is divided into 48 EU and 64 EU models. In the 9W part, a configuration of 2 large cores + 8 small cores and 2 large cores + 4 small cores are provided. The GPU of the former has 96 EUs, and the latter has 80 EUs.

The 15W part and 9W part are consistent in the processor specification configuration. Intel increases the TDP to increase the frequency. In the 28W part, Intel has uniformly configured 96 EUs for GPU, and the number of small cores is also unified to 8. The models are distinguished by the number of large cores, and 6 and 4 are configured respectively. The 35W-45W part is similar to the 28W part, except that the Core i7 is slightly different in combination, and two more cores will be added. The 45W-55W part uses 8 large cores + 8 small cores uniformly, but the GPU is only configured with 32 EUs.
