To improve security, Firefox 57 will introduce a new key negotiation algorithm implementation
Recently, Mozilla security blog announced that it is working with INRIA and Project Everest, in the browser integration HACL * encryption algorithm library components. The first result of the cooperation is the implementation of the Curve25519 key agreement algorithm (RFC7748).
The implementation has been added to the Firefox Nightly, is expected to be officially available to the user in Firefox 57, Curve25519 is widely used in TLS key exchange, recently became the IETF standard.
On the 64-bit platform, the Hvg * Curve25519 implementation is 20% faster than the current Firefox browser implementation (19500 scalar multiplication instead of 15100). Mozilla said it also improved security and performance.
