How to enable the new app picker in Windows 11

The app picker refers to the application selection window that pops up when we open a file, which is actually the window that pops up when we click the “Open with” option. Windows 11 continues to use the previous app picker, but in the latest development version, Microsoft has replaced the new design with the mica material language.

The overall style of the new app picker has been much better, especially the background has been replaced with a translucent style, and the original huge scroll bar has also been replaced. To use the new app picker we need to update to Windows 11 Dev Build 22563, then use the ViveTool tool to enable the configuration options.

The new app picker is not enabled by default and Microsoft did not mention it in the blog, but we can use the ViveTool tool to manually open it. The commands we need to use this time are as follows. In addition, we mention that these features can be turned on or off naturally.  You open Command Prompt (CMD) in Administrator Mode and run command

.\vivetool addconfig 36302090 2

It takes effect immediately after the operation is successful without restarting the system. If you don’t like them, you can change them back.
\vivetool delconfig 36302090 2
