HackerOne Report: 7 ethical hackers got over $1 million in 2019
The bug bounty platform HackerOne recently released an annual report on the state of ethical hacking, stating that 600,000 white hat hackers take part in the HackerOne platform in 2020, with twice the size of members last year. And the bounty earned by these white hat hackers in the past 12 months exceeded $40 million.
As an important platform for companies to communicate with ethical hackers (making money by discovering security holes), HackerOne said that the amount of rewards this year is almost the sum of the rewards of the past few years. Tech giants including Google, Goldman Sachs, Toyota, and IBM have established close cooperation with HackerOne to ensure that security researchers can fix it in time after discovering vulnerabilities, and avoid being harmed by unethical hackers.
Since its launch in 2012, the company has successfully detected more than 150,000 vulnerabilities and has paid ethical hackers on the platform a total of $ 82 million. And ethical hackers are getting more cash rewards. In 2018, only one HackOne hacker received a $ 1 million bounty, and in 2019 seven hackers have earned over $ 1 million.
