Google Pixel Watch engineering prototype was leaked

A few days ago, it was reported that Google will release its first smartwatch, the Pixel Watch, at the I/O 2022 conference in May. This product has also been circulating for several years, but this time, with the release of the product rendering, it should be released soon. Recently, Androidcentral has released real photos of the Pixel Watch, and interestingly, the source said that he picked up an engineering machine from a restaurant.

Players with a good memory should recall that a similar incident happened in the era of Apple’s iPhone 4 when Apple employees left a prototype iPhone 4 in the testing stage in a bar. According to the latest report, a netizen provided Android Central with a photo of the real machine suspected of being a Pixel Watch. It is described that he picked it up in a restaurant. After comparing it with the renderings circulating on the Internet a few days ago, this should be an engineering prototype of the Pixel Watch used by Google for testing.

Judging from the photos, the real Pixel Watch is indeed a very rounded circular dial design. The curved glass is used on the front, and the middle frame of the fuselage is polished with stainless steel. So Google should position their smartwatches at the high end, and in addition to the knob-type crown, there are two physical buttons, and then there is a heart rate sensor on the back of the watch, and a suspected wireless charging design.

It only has a contact interface on the side of the watch, which is similar to the charging interface used by Fitbit, a subsidiary of Google, and its smart bracelet. Because this is an engineering prototype, such a side interface may also be used for testing. In addition, it is said that the watch only displays a Google logo after booting, and there is no operating system in it, so this may be a relatively early engineering prototype.
