Google launches a USB-C Titan security key for $50

Earlier, Google has launched its own brand of a physical Titan security key (TITAN), but the previously introduced physical security keys are based on the USB-A interface. Considering that more and more computers and smartphones are beginning to use the USB-C interface, Google is now also offering a USB-based security key. This new version of the security key is no different from other Titan security keys except for the interface, such as using Google’s own security chip and custom firmware. The price of the Titan security key based on the USB-C interface is $50, and users can purchase such security keys in e-commerce platforms such as Google Store or Amazon.

The Google Titan Entity Security Key is based on the FIDO U2F authentication protocol, which means that any website or service that supports the FIDO U2F standard can use an entity security key. The Titan entity security key is connected to the computer-based on the USB interface. When the user needs to perform authentication, only the physical security key needs to be lightly pressed to pass the verification. It is very difficult to remotely steal the verification code because of the algorithm of the entity security key. This is also the key point that the entity security key can replace SMS verification.

At the same time, the Titan Security Key not only supports Google’s services, but also the Titan Key, such as Microsoft, Amazon, and other FIDO-compliant websites.
