Google Chrome has restricted downloading of mixed content

Google Chrome has launched the official version of the 86 series a few days ago. This version has many improvements in security, such as a password manager and restricted loading of mixed content.

However, after the update, many users found that an error occurred when downloading content, and Google Chrome automatically blocked the download content and did not allow users to manually resume the download.

This situation did not appear in the previous version. Usually, Google Chrome will ask the user even if there is a security issue, and the user can naturally resume the download manually.

Google Chrome has previously issued a notice that restricts the loading of mixed content. The so-called mixed content refers to HTTPS encrypted/HTTP plaintext content.

According to Google’s requirements, all websites should use encrypted secure connections. If no encrypted secure connections are used, an insecure sign will appear in front of the domain name in the address bar.

If the website has been connected with encrypted security, the attached resources must also be connected with encrypted security. If it is connected with a clear text protocol, Google Chrome will block it.

The current download problem is actually caused by mixed content, that is, the website uses an encrypted connection but the content downloaded by the user is a plaintext connection, so it is blocked.

Google said that based on security considerations, the connection of the clear text protocol in the mixed content has security risks, and Google does not allow users to download manually in the download manager.
