Google brings Android Live Caption function to Chrome browser
Live Caption is a feature released with the launch of the Android 10 system, and it is also a highlight of the Android 10 system update. This function can convert the audio on the mobile phone into subtitles in real-time and display it on the screen. This feature allows users with hearing impairments to watch short videos that are becoming more and more popular nowadays or allow ordinary users to use it in public places where it is inconvenient to turn on the sound.
Google has announced that it will decentralize the Live Caption function, which is already mature on Android devices, to the Chrome browser. In terms of function, Live Caption on Chrome is no different from Android. This function can also automatically generate real-time subtitles for multimedia content such as audio and video.
The scope of application of this feature includes video websites, podcasts, broadcast content, and most network-based video and audio chat services. In addition to being suitable for various Internet online services, Live Caption is also suitable for local multimedia files on the computer, which means that when you play local audio and video files in the Chrome browser, you can also get real-time subtitles.
Currently, this feature can only be used on the desktop Chrome browser and supports Windows, Mac, and Linux devices; this feature does not currently support Chrome for iOS/iPadOS. Android devices can directly enable the built-in Live Caption function of the system.
