GNOME 3.36 is scheduled to be released in March next year

GNOME recently released the 3.34 version codenamed “Thessaloniki” , and the next stable version 3.36 has also been put on the agenda.

According to the official release plan on the GNOME wiki, GNOME 3.36 will be released on March 11, 2020. Prior to this, 3.35.x would serve as an unstable development series for testing and eventually reaching a stable version. This is because of the GNOME’s parity version number feature, only the even version is the stable version, and the minor odd version marks the development state.

The first GNOME 3.36 development snapshot, GNOME 3.35.1, is scheduled for release on October 12, 2019. The second development snapshot, GNOME 3.35.2, will be released on November 23, 2019. More importantly, the first GNOME 3.36 beta will be released in early February next year, and the second beta will be released on February 15, 2020, two weeks later. The final stable version of GNOME 3.36 is scheduled for release on March 11, 2020. The 3.36.x series will appear next.
