GitHub introduces video upload function to display project functions and bugs more intuitively

GitHub recently announced that users can upload video files in MP4 and MOV formats on issues, pull requests, discussions, and other pages. The addition of this feature will open up new possibilities for GitHub, including more clearly demonstrating new features or bugs in software projects.

As early as December last year, GitHub released a test version of the video upload feature. Now GitHub believes that the function is stable enough, so it is open to all users on the platform. Now, all users can upload videos to help maintainers reproduce errors, provide reviewers with background on pull requests, and demonstrate new features that are currently in the prototype stage, etc.

Lauren Brose of GitHub said when talking about the ability to upload videos:
We’re excited to see the unique ways you use video in your workflows across GitHub. We hope you will start to bring video into your day-to-day through services you already use, like Loom and Vimeo Record to share project context, provide code review feedback, and share launch updates through free screen and webcam recording. This is just a first step in bringing video into software development across GitHub, and we’re looking to explore more use cases, like video unfurling from links and video annotations in code with Loom, Vimeo, and others to create a richer video experience.
The function of uploading videos has also come to mobile devices. After the iOS and Android GitHub apps are upgraded to the latest version, GitHub apps for mobile devices can support the video uploads feature.
