Fitbit launches Charge 5, a large-screen smart bracelet priced at $180
In the past two years, many manufacturers have made smart wearable products, and smartwatches are naturally the most important category of each. However, there are many so-called smartwatches, in fact, they can only be regarded as smart bracelets with larger screens. Of course, nowadays smartwatches and smart bracelets are indeed similar in many functions, except that the smartwatch has a complete operating system. Apart from being able to install apps, most users may also find it difficult to make a difference. And Fitbit’s latest smart bracelet, Charge 5, is already very close to a smartwatch.
Fitbit also makes smartwatches now, but Charge 5 is still defined as a smart bracelet. It uses a bright-faced aluminum-alloy body and is equipped with a 1-inch AMOLED screen. The maximum brightness is 2 times higher than that of the previous generation, and it is covered with Corning Gorilla 3 glass. The entire body can support 50 meters of water resistance, and there are also optional straps and so on.
In terms of fitness features, it is the biggest selling point of Charge 5. The hardware provides a three-axis accelerometer, built-in GPS+GLONASS positioning, photoelectric heart rate sensor, blood oxygen monitoring, skin temperature sensor, ECG detection, etc., and software support includes Fitbit’s own ECG, EDA, stress assessment, SpO2, comprehensive health checks such as breathing and sleep quality, as well as fitness assistance, also have a variety of sports and activity-tracking functions. If you join Fitbit Premium, fitness tutorials will also be provided for use.
However, the price of Fitbit Charge 5 is as high as $180, which is already more expensive than many smartwatches. Of course, the benefit of the smart bracelet is that it saves power. The Charge 5 is nominally able to provide up to 7 days of regular use, and it can last up to 30 days of battery life on standby. With so many functions, this performance is still very gratifying.
