Firefox will support importing from KeePass and Bitwarden passwords
By the way, all major password managers support importing files from other managers or browsers, that is, importing other password managers or browser data from files.
But the browser currently mainly supports importing data from other browsers, instead of importing account and password data from the form file alone.
Google Chrome has previously added experimental options to export to files in batches, but it also lacks the ability to import from files, and Microsoft browsers also do not support it.
Now Firefox seems to be the first to support importing from files. According to the Mozilla blog, the next stable version, Firefox v85, will support this feature.
This kind of import operation is actually quite important for users, but it is not clear why neither Google Chrome nor Microsoft browser provides such export.
Earlier, when a user consulted with Microsoft on the Microsoft forum, the answer was that importing from other browsers is supported, but it cannot be imported directly through data files.
The new import function of the Firefox browser will be convenient for users who are new to the Firefox browser. The first batch of supported password managers includes KeePass and Bitwarden. The CSV text exported by these password managers can be directly imported into Firefox.
Although the next stable version of Firefox will support this feature, it will not be enabled by default, so if users want to use it, they still need to enable it in the test options.
Go to about:config in the Firefox browser, then search for “signon.management.page.fileImport.enabled” and switch its option to true to restart Firefox. After restarting, you can see the relevant options.
Open the account synchronization setting of the Firefox browser, you can see Import from the file in the menu, just select the corresponding CSV file but it does not support encrypted files.
