Firefox will not send search terms to ISP without user consent

Both Google Chrome and Firefox are the most popular browsers on the browser market, but surprisingly, these browsers both leak user search terms.

Some studies have found that these mainstream browsers will send the user’s search terms to the DNS server controlled by the operator’s ISP without the user’s consent.

As for how this problem occurs, there is no detailed explanation for the time being. It is interesting that this keyword will only be sent automatically when the user enters a keyword.

Mozilla Firefox 69

At present, the Firefox browser has provided advanced configuration options in the beta version to prevent this problem. During the test, users temporarily need to manually turn on this option.

If users have already used Firefox 78 Beta and above, they can type about:config in the address bar and press Enter to open the advanced options.

After opening, search for “single” and find browser.urlbar.dnsResolveSingleWordsAfterSearch option and switch it to 0 and save it.

The Google browser has not yet heard whether a solution is being developed.
