Facebook is currently developing its own operating system

Facebook announced that they are developing their own operating system, a job that was led by Mark Lucovsky, a former member of the Windows NT team.

Andrew Bosworth, vice president of Facebook, explained to media why Facebook wanted to enter the operating system market: “We really want to make sure the next generation has space for us. We don’t think we can trust the marketplace or competitors to ensure that’s the case. And so we’re gonna do it ourselves.”

We know from Wikipedia that Mark Lucovsky is now the general operating system leader for Facebook. He left Microsoft after the failure of .NET My Services, and since then he has worked at Google and VMWare. Finally, he joined Facebook.  As early as 2013, Facebook tried to launch its own smartphone but suffered a fiasco.
