Epic Game Store now has more than 160 million users

Epic launched a game store in the early years in terms of publicity strategy, the company adopted a simple game delivery. Epic Game Store will launch a number of free games every week. Players only need to register in the game store to receive and download them for free without user payment.

Relying on these strategies, the company has not only successfully attracted a large number of players but also attracted many developers at the same time, and the number of platform game players is constantly refreshing historical records.

The data released by Epic show that the number of users of its Game Store reached 160 million in 2020, and the number of users in 2019 was 108 million, which means that the number of players increased by 50 million.

Now the platform has 31.3 million daily active users, an increase of 192% from 2019. At its peak, more than 13 million players were playing games on the platform at the same time.

Monthly active users have also increased from 32 million in 2019 to 56 million in 2020. At the same time, a large number of users choose to pay for more competing games on the platform.

For example, in 2020, users spend more than $700 million on the store, of which 37%, about 265 million U.S. dollars, are used to purchase games listed by third-party developers.

At the same time, users spent more than 5.7 billion hours in the store in 2020, and the time spent in 2019 will total 3.35 billion hours, an increase of 70%.

In terms of the number of games, the store offers 190 games in 2019, but it has soared to 471 in 2020, of which more than 103 games are given away for free.

Although Epic and Apple appealed to the courts for the issue of mobile games and had more negative impacts, this negative content did not seem to affect the company.

Epic stated that it will continue to develop more high-quality games in 2021, and will also revise and optimize EPIC GAMES STORE to improve user experience.

In addition, the company is also preparing to provide dedicated publishing tools for game developers. Developers only need to follow the tool’s guidelines to quickly put their games on the shelves.
